Caio Vinicius Barros de Araujo

Caio is a senior Computer Science student at the University of Calgary with interests in software engineering, data science, and machine learning. His current research explores transfer learning for multi-class lung cancer classification using PET/CT imaging data, applying 2D convolutional models and medical image preprocessing.
Beyond research, he has built several full-stack projects—such as inventory management systems and cloud-based file storage—using Django, Next.js, Drizzle ORM, MySQL, and Supabase. He also has systems programming experience, including building a 2D bare-metal game on Raspberry Pi entirely in C.
Caio’s academic journey bridges theory and application, from medical AI to scalable software tools and coursework in cybersecurity. He has been recognized on the Faculty of Science Dean’s List (2024/25) and contributes to youth leadership initiatives in his community. He is passionate about creating impactful solutions that combine technical innovation with real-world application.
